To ensure the best user experience and overall performance when working in Xytech Web, please review the updated recommended hardware and browser guidelines below. These recommendations are based on customer feedback, on-site observations, and performance testing across multiple environments.
Overview
The Xytech Web front-end is generally lightweight on CPU usage; however, memory and GPU acceleration have a significant impact on performance. The Schedule Book, in particular, benefits greatly from GPU-assisted rendering. When GPU acceleration is unavailable, rendering falls back to the CPU, causing a substantial drop in performance.
CPU Recommendations
Light Use
Dual-core processor
Apple M1
Medium Use (500-1500 bookings visible)
Quad-core processor
Apple M1 / M2
Heavy Use (thousands of bookings, frequent redraws, complex views)
6+ cores
Apple M2 / M3
GPU Recommendations (Most Important Component)
The Schedule Book performs best when GPU acceleration is enabled. Systems operating in CPU-only rendering mode will experience reduced performance, stuttering, and increased CPU usage.
Light Use
Integrated GPU
Medium Use
Dedicated GPU
Apple M1 / M2 GPU
Heavy Use
RTX-class dedicated GPU
Apple M2 Pro / M3 Pro GPU
Memory (RAM)
Light Use
4 GB
Medium / Production Use
8 GB
Heavy Use
16 GB or more
Note: Browsers can use 1–2 GB of RAM when rendering complex Schedule Book canvases. Additional open tabs or dashboards will increase total memory usage.
Browser Recommendations
Latest versions of Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge
GPU acceleration must be enabled
When GPU acceleration is disabled, users may experience:
High CPU and RAM usage
Rendering “jank”
Flashing / flickering during redraws
Slower Schedule Book performance
Additional Observations
Users on newer MacBook computers have reported noticeably smoother performance compared to certain PC configurations. macOS tends to handle memory management more efficiently, contributing to this improvement.
Customers with multiple Xytech dashboards or tabs open will consume more memory, which may impact browser performance.
Layout Optimization Recommendations
Complex or overloaded layouts can negatively impact performance. We recommend:
Reducing layout content to only what is needed
-
Removing unused components such as visualizers
Example: Removing an unused visualizer from a Transmission layout resulted in immediate performance improvements.
If you need assistance simplifying layouts, please reach out to Xytech Support via the Fabric Help Center.
Summary
To achieve the best performance in Xytech Web v11.3, ensure that users have:
A GPU-accelerated browser
Sufficient RAM
Modern CPU and GPU hardware (Apple Silicon or comparable PC specs)
These guidelines support smoother rendering, faster interactions, and an optimal overall user experience.
