In Fabric’s continued shift towards more streamlined development processes and shorter apart of our long-term roadmap, we are working to replace Isotopes with off-the-shelf functionality wherever possible. This will reduce the need for custom testing over time while ensuring even greater reliability and consistency. While this represents a change in our testing focus, rest assured that this will not compromise the rigor of our QA efforts to ensure a stable, high-quality product.
Beginning with the Xytech 2025 Release 11.1, Custom Isotope testing will be limited to build verification (as described below). This will allow us to deliver more rapid releases to all customers, giving everyone new features and fixes sooner, while also giving customers more time to internally test their specific business workflows and integrations with any 3rd party solutions. Any isotope issues identified by customers during their internal testing will be reviewed by the Product team for inclusion in a future release or hotfix as warranted.
Isotope Build Verification Process:
Fabric QA will:
- Confirm that the application can read/write to custom fields
- Confirm that custom field data is searchable
- Confirm that any non-integration utilities can run without error
- Confirm that custom API calls can be submitted without error
As a customer, you will be responsible for:
- Making sure your specific business workflows are working as expected
- Making sure your integrations are working as expected
- Reporting any issues to the Fabric Support team in a timely manner
If you would like Fabric to perform additional Custom Isotope testing or specific workflow testing before your upgrade, we are available to assist through a professional services engagement.
With these improvements, Fabric will be able to dedicate more time to testing the standard product, so you can benefit from faster delivery, improved reliability, and earlier availability of new features.
As always, we appreciate your partnership with us and welcome your feedback.
