How to configure a user to allow toggling the Super User Checkbox
This step-by-step guide ensures that a Super User can configure their user id to support changing the Super User checkbox on the user record even when not currently set as a Super User.
1. Create a Super User Role (or update an existing role)
Note: This does NOT need to be a special role. If you have an role for admin type users you can simply add to the existing role.
-
- Go to System > New > Role
- Title the new role 'Super User' (or similar)
- Configure the role with the following (Some columns omitted for clarity):
| Module | Document | Document Type | View Doc | Edit Doc | Create Doc | View Action Menu | Rights |
| System | User | Maintenance | x | x | x | x | |
| System | Users | Select | x | x | |||
| System | Dashboard | Maintenance | x | x | x | x |
Select All Options |
| System | Role | Maintenance | x | x | x | x |
(optional) |
| System | Roles | Select | x | x |
(optional) |
-
- Save and Close
2. Assign the Super User Role to your User Record
- Go to System > Users
- Select and open your user record.
- On the Divisions tab, select the <Global> Division (or in each individual division if not Using Global)
- On the Security tab, add the role from step 1
- Save and Close
Now you can safely toggle the Super User Checkbox on the main page of the user record.
- To run as a non-Super User
- Open your user record
- Uncheck the Super User checkbox.
- On the security tab, select any additional roles you want to test
- Save and Close
- Log out and back in. You will now be a limited user. If you have added no other roles to your user you will only be able to see the Users and Roles searches.
- To return to a Super User
- Open your user record and check the Super User checkbox. Save
- Log out and back in. You will now be a super user again.
IMPORTANT:
Do not remove the 'Super User' role from your user while logged in as a non-Super User or you will become stuck as a non-Super User!
