Procedure
In older versions of the ScheduALL SchedWebService API component, the service provided a default test page and a copy of the Web Service Description Layer (WSDL) when connecting to the service’s base address. This was identified as a security risk and disabled by default in recent versions.
Therefore, when installing a recent version of ScheduALL SchedWebService API for the first time, or upgrading to a newer version, the service displays the following error when attempting to connect to the default test page or Web Service Description Layer (WSDL):
This message is only displayed when connecting to the URL with a browser, and should not interfere with an external system connecting to the API normally.
To enable the test page and WSDL for development and testing purposes:
- In the SchedWebService API installation folder (default folder is C:\ScheduALL5\ScheduALLWebServiceAPI), create a backup copy of the Web.config file, e.g. Web.config.backup or similar.
- Locate the icon for Notepad or your preferred text editor. Right-click the icon, click More, and click Run as administrator.
- Open the Web.config file from the SchedWebService API installation folder in the text editor.
- Locate the following line:
<remove name="Documentation" />
- Apply XML comment tags before and after the setting, so that it looks like:
<!-- <remove name="Documentation" /> -->
Once the interface to the SchedWebService API component is complete, it is recommended to either remove the comment tags, or restore the backup of the config file.
